  Healthy Head Start for Kids

We take the guesswork out of preparing fun and nutritious lunches for your children. We provide fresh, healthy, seasonal lunches and snacks tailored to your children's needs and tastes. Our goal is to serve food that children will eat - after all, nutritious food is worthless, if not eaten.

We believe in providing quality menu choices that meet nutritional requirements in foods that children will enjoy.

Our rotating menus ensure that kids never become bored with the same food everyday.

  Did You Know?

  • Overweight kids miss more school than their average weight counterparts

  • Reducing sugar in children's diets leads to greater focus in the classroom

  • One child in very four is overweight

  • Two thirds of school children in Canada are not active enough

  • Today's kids are eating increasing quantities of snack foods, heavy in fat and carbohydrates and light in nutritional value - healthy food can taste great too!

  • Children are more alert, easily educated and are ready to take in more information
    if they are eating healthy

Different Preschoolers Need Different Amounts of Food

  • Healthy eating is necessary to meet children's energy needs for growth, development and activity.

  • The amount of food preschoolers need depends on their age, body size, activity level, growth rate and appetite.

  • At a first glance, the number of servings recommended for preschoolers may seem large. You may find that some young preschoolers do not meet their recommended number of servings each day. However other children may eat more than the minimum number of servings. Don't worry. As long as they are energetic, growing and their hunger and thirst are satisfied, they are likely eating the right amount.
